The Ecocem Materials Science Symposium took place in Paris on 18–20 Nov 2025, where we convened leading academics, materials scientists, and industry partners from around the world to share the latest research and developments in low-carbon cement technologies with the aim of accelerating their deployment. Participants discussed progress in current research, future priorities, and the need for deeper collaboration between science, policy, and industry in order to close the gap between technical feasibility and large-scale industrialisation.
The industry has reached a pivotal moment with advances in low-carbon cement science. If we take the right action now, the cement industry can decarbonise by 2040, ten years ahead of schedule, without excessive cost and without carbon capture.
