GGBS is an acronym for Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag, a by-product from the manufacture of Iron. Ecocem GGBS is used in combination with Portland cement to produce superior longer lasting concrete. A replacement rate of up to 70% is permitted by I.S EN 206-1.
Ecocem GGBS is an industrial by-product that is diverted from landfill and up-cycled into a low carbon cement replacement. On exiting the iron processing system, molten Blastfurnace slag is rapidly quenched with water to form Granulated Blastfurnace Slag (GBS). Ecocem GGBS is then produced by drying and grinding the GBS at our milling plant in Dublin.
Ecocem GGBS improves performance in any situation, from housing to civil engineering applications across all industry sectors.
The project was sustainably designed through LEED with 50% inclusion of Ecocem GGBS, and achieved LEED Gold certification.
Ecocem GGBS bespoke blended cement is a suitable technical solution for your geotechnical works when looking for soil properties improvement, brownfield remediation cases, and dredged sediment stabilisation and valorisation.
Father Collins Park is Ireland’s first wholly sustainable park. The concrete used in the park incorporated 70% GGBS provided by Ecocem saving over a hundred tonnes of CO2 and providing a beautiful finish that enhances the aesthetics of the park.
Ecocem GGBS is the ideal solution for all applications including ready-mix concrete producers, precast concrete manufacturers, the mining industry, and soil stabilization projects across Ireland.
