ACT

The next generation of low carbon cement technology.

The future ACT One

ACT is a next generation low carbon cement technology that can deliver a globally scalable 70% reduction in the cement industry’s carbon footprint as early as 2035 with no significant increase in production costs, reduced energy and water use, and minimal change to manufacturing processes.

Decarbonisation.
Don't just
commit, ACT

The cement industry needs to take urgent action now if we are to decarbonise by 50% by 2030. There are only two realistic ways in which process emissions can be reduced:
  1. Capture the CO2 produced using CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage)
  2. Produce less CO2 by manufacturing low carbon cements which have lower levels of clinker content – the key source of CO2 emissions – known as clinker substitution

The radical answer to a major global carbon problem

Ecocem’s ACT, low carbon cement technology, can rapidly and cost-effectively reduce the carbon footprint of traditional cements. That’s equivalent to 1.6 billion tonnes of CO2 or 4% of global emissions, by as early as 2035. This can be achieved with no significant increase in production costs, no changes to the production process, and no impact on product quality.

Delivering a low carbon revolution and a whole lot more

ACT delivers cost effective low carbon cement at a scale never before achieved. As well as being produced using less energy and water, it reduces noxious air polluting gases.

Frequently asked questions

ACT uses raw materials already approved by the cement and concrete standards, with specific chemical additions for rheology and activation, and designed for concrete with a low ratio of water to cement. Learn more about how this innovative technology works in our FAQs.
