ACT is a next generation low carbon cement technology which can deliver a globally scalable 70% reduction in the cement industry’s carbon footprint as early 2035 with no significant increase in production costs, reduced energy and water use, and minimal change to manufacturing processes.
The cement industry needs to take urgent action now if we are to decarbonise by 50% by 2030. There are only two realistic ways in which process emissions can be reduced:
Capture the CO2 produced using CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage)
Produce less CO2 by manufacturing low carbon cements which have lower levels of clinker content – the key source of CO2 emissions - known as clinker substitution
Ecocem's ACT, low carbon cement technology, can rapidly and cost effectively reduce the carbon footprint of traditional cements. That’s equivalent to 1.6 billion tonnes of CO2 or 4% of global emissions by early as 2035. This can be achieved with no significant increase in production costs, no changes to the production process, and no impact on product quality.
